I’m finally going to release GlovePIE 0.45. I had some other stuff to take care of, and I get distracted easily. For example I decided to quickly write a Turbo Pascal decompiler when I was supposed to be writing GlovePIE. So sorry for the delay.
I’m planning on a 2011 release, which means tomorrow, whether it’s ready or not.
And it will be free!
It will support Kinect via Microsoft’s Kinect for Windows Beta 2 SDK (no other Kinect SDKs are supported in this version, sorry). Kinect support is working, but still a bit preliminary.
And I’ve updated the TrackIR emulation. GlovePIE is now completely 100% free of bad Haiku “poetry”, (not even any encrypted or generated poetry), which should get NaturalPoint off my back. Of course, neither GlovePIE, nor anyone else in the world has ever used any of the terrible “poetry” by NaturalPoint, nor would they want to. But NaturalPoint aren’t genuinely interested in protecting the income they make from the sale of poetry books, they are just trying to trick lawyers into forcing competing (or cooperating) software not to supply the correct password to their TrackIR API.
And GlovePIE can now get past the new encrypted TrackIR protocol in some new games such as DiRT 3, without the use of TrackIRFixer. Not all encrypted games are supported yet though, and some of the old TrackIR games that worked in previous versions of GlovePIE might not work anymore until I perfect my new method of getting in without a signature. But many games are working.
So get ready to look around naturally in driving games while steering an imaginary steering wheel, using the Kinect. Or using Halo Anniversary voice commands in Halo 2, while pointing your gun, swapping weapons, and picking things up with natural gestures. Or whatever else you can imagine.

Wow, I’ve waited so long to hear this, can’t wait
oh yeah recently got some wii motion plus (built-in) controllers but haven’t tried them with glovePIE yet. are they supported?
I’ve been searching around trying to find out why my old wiimote works and my new one doesn’t. The new wii motion plus controllers need some adjustments to function, Detected as (Nintendo RVL-CNT-01-TR) when you try to pair it, it will pair but not work in any applications. Then I looked up Dolphin-Emu Issue #5011
http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=5011
Right now, I don’t think the new wii motion plus (built-in) controllers work? I’ve been fiddling with mine for a while now and just got my TR mote to work but only in Dolphin with the compile from Xoppa.
Thank you.
I assume you mean the “Wii Remote Plus”. Wii Remote Plus can be identified by the semicircle writing around the “Wii” symbol at the bottom.
I had wondered about that, but I thought Nintendo would have made them fully compatible. I guess I’d better go buy one.
Wii Motion Plus (not built in) is supported. On the other hand Wii Remote Plus (built in) is mostly not supported, but may work for some people if they are lucky enough to have an older Wii Remote Plus.
I did some research, and it seems not all Wii Remote Pluses are the same. Some people have ones that they say work fine and have the usual Product ID and service name, while other people have the “TR” version with product ID of 0×0330 and service name of “RVL-CNT-01-TR”.
That could be wrong though, since the people who had working ones weren’t very precise.
I own 3 Wii Remotes.
The first one is a Poo Remote, which can be recognised by the grey writing on the left hand side which says “FCC ID: POO-WC45″. It is the official Nintendo Wii Remote purchased on launch day in Australia. I didn’t own a Wii at that time, but I had already released a working version of GlovePIE that supported Wii Remotes BEFORE launch day. I was probably the only person buying a Wii Remote without a Wii that day. It is famous, and you can find memory dumps and calibration info for this very Wii Remote of mine on the internet. It is white of course, since all Wii Remotes were then. It has a broken wrist strap that Nintendo refused to replace because I didn’t have a Wii serial number, and no jacket. The wrist strap broke while playing Wii Bowling on a friend’s Wii, and the Wii Remote made a hole in the ceiling.
The second one is the Wii Remote that came with the non-launch, Australian Wii that my family later gave me as a present. This one has FCC ID: VIYCFS8500. It came with a jacket, and a better wrist strap. Except for that, it doesn’t seem much different from the Poo Remote. It is a plain white one. This Wii Remote makes a rattling sound when I shake it.
The third one is also white and smaller, but still an official Nintendo one with the Nintendo logo on the back, and it has no FCC ID. It won’t pair with my Wii or my computer, but it dispenses candy lollies when you press the B button.
I also own one Wii Motion Plus, two nunchuks, one classic controller, one hot pink BladeFX wireless nunchuk, one Balance Board, and one cheap Chinese third party gun shell whose name I can’t remember.
Any other Wii controllers are untested.
I have the Wii Remote Plus that comes with The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and it has the regular “RVL-CNT-01″ and it works great in glovepie normally, but recently on Windows 7, glovepie has refused to calibrate the motionplus when my nunchuck is plugged in. “Wiimote.HasMotionPlus” returns true, but it will go from LEDs one-and-four to just one lit, skipping the calibration process. It also just started doing it on my other wiimote plus when it doesnt have a nunchuck. I havent changed anything with my bluetooth that could’ve caused this and it works fine on windows xp but not 7… Do you have any idea of what I can do about this?
Hello,
So I recently came upon IR tracking with the Wii and make-shift LED lights. So I went out and bought Wii controllers, only to find that the new Wii + Motion Plus that’s in circulation (while old controllers being discontinued) doesn’t work with GlovePie.
The new controllers are recognized by the pc’s bluetooth as: RVL-CNT-01-TR. I guess GlovePie coding doesn’t support it yet.
I tried Xoppa’s fix for these new controllers to work with Dolphin. And it works great! Although, I have no idea whether IR sensors work properly with the fix because Dolphin doesn’t necessarily require it. Could you possibly look into it?
Here are Xoppa’s releases for the Dolphin’s directories:
32 Bit: http://www.xoppa.com/download/dolphin-tr-x86.zip
64 Bit: http://www.xoppa.com/download/dolphin-tr-x64.zip
I’m not a computer programmer, or I would put all my efforts into it. However, I do have some web coding experience, and I’m going to check out these .dll files. But if you are familiar with GlovePie’s code and can look into how to make these new controllers compatible with GlovePie, please do so!
The URL does not work:
http://glovepie.org/GlovePIE045Free.zip
do you have a valid one?
Cheers.
